Taryn M Scharf

Taryn has over fifteen years of experience in child abuse, child neglect, dependency, child welfare services, etc. and is an experienced litigator of over 13 years. Over the course of her career, she has represented parents, children, and the Department of Health and Human Services in multiple counties in California. She passed the California State Bar on her first try in 2005, just a few months after earning her Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Taryn earned her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science, from San Diego State University.

Before settling in the Sacramento area, Taryn called many cities home, including Anchorage, Aptos, Buffalo, Portland, San Jose, San Diego, and Shanghai. She is quite the adventurer and traveler, visiting 14 countries in Europe and East Asia over the past ten years.

Taryn has been happily married since 2002 and has two children - a teenage daughter and pre-teen son. Outside of work, she spends her time golfing, reading, playing with her Mini Australian Shepherd, Derby, and supporting her daughter as she explores her next steps in career and university, and watching her son on the field and courts playing sports.
